Evan Rachel Wood
Evan Rachel Wood was conceived in
Raleigh, North Carolina on September 7th 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III
is a stage actor and writer, while her mother Sara Wood is an actress and
acting coach. She has two older brothers--Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David
Wood IV, who has also performed. Evan as well as her brothers appeared at
Theatre In The Park, Raleigh and her father serves as the director. At the age
five she was screened against Kirsten Dunst for the lead part in Interview with
the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994) following a lengthy audition
process. She relocated to Los Angeles with her mom and brother Ira in the year
1996. She has enjoyed success since then she has appeared in a variety of TV
series, TV movies as well as feature films. She was in Practical Magic (1998)
and also starred in the comedy S1m0ne (2002) as the daughter of actor Al
Pacino. She was then in Thirteen (2003) featuring Holly Hunter. Her
breakthrough role as Tracy in "Thirteen" brought her a Golden Globes
nomination for Best Performance by an actor in the genre of Motion Picture:
Drama and for an Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding
Performance by an Actress Female in the Leading Role. She was the youngest
actress nominated for the Leading Role award at the time. Her performance as
Veda Pierce in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011) was rewarded with an
Emmy nomination and a Golden Globe award. She also earned acclaim for her
strong performance in the role of Stephanie the estranged Mickey Rourke's
daughter, in Darren Aronsofsky's The Wrestler (2008). Daughter of Ira David
Wood III and Sara Wood. Ira David Wood III's younger sister. Trained in dance.
She is passionate about dancing to sing, rollblade, and horseback ride. She has
a black belt in tae Kwon Do. She has kept in contact with a majority of her
Once and Again (1999) castmates: Mischa Barton, Julia Whelan, and Shane West.
